Outdoorsy Fun for Families & Kids of All Ages

Kids and families have plenty to keep active and entertained at the Spokane Great Outdoors Expo Feb. 17-18 at the Spokane Convention Center. From indoor bike riding and marshmallow roasting to arts and crafts, story telling, a live bugs and snakes presentation, games, skateboarding tricks, and our Kids Adventure Passport activity, families with kids of all ages will a blast. Kids 12 and under are free with a parent too!

Kids Story Time & Activities

Several times a day all weekend, kids and parents can take part in free stories and other nature, wildlife, and natural resource-themed activities in an inflatable fish tent!

Bugs n Snakes Live

See tarantulas, amphibians, tortoises, lizards, and snakes up close and personal with Spokane’s Bugs N Snakes! Presenters will introduce a variety of exotic reptiles and invertebrates (spiders and stuff!) and give audience members a chance to ask questions, as well as touch and/or hold some of the animals. Saturday only at 11:10 AM.


Skateboarding Demonstrations & Clinics

Watch some of the best local skaters, courtesy of One Off Skate Supply, Yousta Skateboards and Paradigm Skateshop throw down in a high ollie challenge that’s sure to inspire all ages. Catch the action both Saturday and Sunday at 1:20 PM. Then kids ages 3-7 can take a free “Beginner Skateboarding” clinic right after the skate demo at 2PM. The clinic will focus on honing balance, stance, and confidence, ensuring a fun and safe introduction to the world of skateboarding. All gear and instruction is provided by highly skilled skateboarders for this free clinic. Space is limited to 10 kids per clinic so sign up early at the One Off Skate Supply/Paradigm Skate booth.

Nature Arts, Crafts, & Creative Building

Stop by the Greenplay Northwest booth where kids and parents can participate in a nature weaving activity, a bracelet and crown craft, and creative building at a “loose parts” table all weekend long.

Marshmallow Roasting

Roast marshmallows (FREE) and hang out around the faux campfire at the R’nR RV Center Campground. Listen to live music, check out camping gear, RVs, and enter to win prizes hourly!

Kids’ Bike Riding

Kids of all ages can ride indoors on Strider balance bikes, BMX bikes, and other kids’ bikes. Spokane BMX will be on hand to talk about local BMX riding and racing!

Learn about Fossils

See real fossils at the Stonerose Interpretive Center and Eocene Fossil Site booth. Stonerose is a family-friendly center located in Republic, WA.

Kids Adventure Passport Activity

Explore the great outdoors with your kids by completing activities around the Expo and collecting stamps on their passports. Bags with prizes for both kids and moms and dads while they last for completed passports! Get started at the Out There Outdoors booth at the show entrance.

Play Games

Kids and parents can practice disc golf skills, play cornhole and other tossing games, and shoot a target with Nerf archery gear in the Expo Campground area by R’nR RV and Rambleraven Gear Trader.

Live String Instrument Music

Introduce your kids to traditional American bluegrass and acoustic music live the Expo Campground. Kick back in a camp chair with a beverage and marshmallows and enjoy the tunes!
