KIDS ADVENTURE PASSPORT!
Our FREE Kids’ Adventure Passport will help kids 12 and under explore games and age-appropriate activities throughout the event and take home prizes, swag, and deals for parents and kids at the end. How it works: To participate, kids 12 and under need to pick up their Passport at the Out There Outdoors booth at the entrance to the Great Outdoors Expo. Once in hand, follow the instructions and find and try each of the activities highlighted in the passport and collect stamps from each activity station/exhibitor. Once all of the necessary stamps are collected, return to the Out There Outdoors booth to collect your free Adventure Passport prizes while they last! New: Negative Split Swag Run at the Expo!
Enjoy a scenic 5K course along the Centennial Trail and the Spokane River starting and finishing at Spokane Convention Center/Spokane Great Outdoors Expo Saturday morning Feb 22 (8:30 AM start time). Runners will receive several past Negative Split race swag items and raffle tickets towards more items as well as free entry into the outdoors expo after the run. More race info and register here.
ACTIVITIES ALL WEEKEND LONG
Extreme Skateboarding Demonstrations!
Come watch talented skateboarders performing extreme skate tricks on a mobile indoor halfpipe courtesy of Yousta and Hopper Skateboards! Kids of all ages and adults will be inspired by the skill and style demonstrated by these young riders. Rumor has it that some Spokane BMX riders might do tricks too! Come cheer on the riders both days at 11 AM and 2 PM! Skate demonstrations are sponsored by Layne Stoops – State Farm Insurance.
Live Americana & Bluegrass Music
Listen to traditional American bluegrass and acoustic music by the Homebrew Stringband and Brad Keeler. Head to the Expo Campground from 1-3 on Sat and 12-2 on Sun for Homebrew Stringband. Brad Keeler will play acoustic covers from the past 100+ years plus his own original music during several other sets throughout the weekend. Kick back in a camp chair with a beverage and marshmallows and enjoy the tunes!
Kids’ Bike Riding
Kids of all ages can ride indoors on Strider balance bikes and BMX bikes on an indoor course. Spokane BMX will be on hand to share bikes and talk about local BMX riding and racing!
Kids Adventure Passport
Explore the great outdoors with your kids by completing activities around the Expo and collecting stamps on their passports. Bags with prizes for both kids and moms and dads while they last for completed passports! Get started at the Out There Outdoors booth at the show entrance.
Marshmallow Roasting
Roast marshmallows and hang out around the faux campfire at the R’nR RV Center Campground. Listen to live music, check out camping gear, RVs, and enter to win prizes hourly!
Learn About Rafting
Check out rafting gear and learn about how to get started whitewater rafting from seasoned river rafters with the Northwest Whitewater Association. Find out about local rivers, the permitting processes, skills clinics, group trips and more! Or stop by the ROW Advetures booth and book a river trip on an iconic NW river!
Check Out RVs, Campers, Vans & Overlanding Gear
Check out RVs from R’nR RV Center in the indoor campground and start planning summer camping adventures in comfort! Check out other vehicles and gear from Subaru of Spokane, GustoVans & GustoOverland, Empire Cycle & Powersport, and Loan Peak Overland.
Fossil Hunting
Crack real fossil-filled rocks to reveal 49 million year old fossils! Stop by the Stonerose Interpretive Center and Eocene Fossil Site booth to be a part of regularly-scheduled rock splitting demonstrations.
Camp Coffee Samples
Stop by the Roast House/Mojo Cycles booth to pick up a sample cup of coffee that you can sip in the Expo Campground!
Outdoor Gear & Adventure Giveaways
Enter to win over $4,000 in outdoor gear, trips, and other outdoorsy prizes at the Out There Outdoors at the show entrance. Drawings are held hourly in the Campground area.
Full Bar
Enjoy your favorite adult beverage at the bar or while exploring the Outdoors Expo and Golf Show! There’s also food and non-alcoholic beverages available at the Expo.
Check Out Electric-assist & Other Bikes
Local bike shops including North Division Bicycle and Mojo Cyclery will have a selection of e-bikes and other bicycles on hand for you to check out or try. Both shops will also be offering an e-bike presentation and Q&A (check our presentation schedule here).
Nature Arts, Crafts, & Creative Building
Stop by the Greenplay Northwest booth where kids and parents can participate in a nature art project all weekend long. Kids get to make a nature wand out of sticks and other materials to take home!
Play Games
Kids and parents can practice disc golf skills, play cornhole and other games in the Expo Campground area by R’nR RV.
See Live Animals
See tarantulas, amphibians, tortoises, lizards, snakes, owls and hawks up close and personal with Spokane’s Bugs N Snakes and West Valley Outdoor Learning Center. Presenters will give audience members a chance to ask questions, as well as touch and/or hold some of the animals. Presentations happening both days, check the presenatatioin schedule here.
Presentations on Outdoor Adventure Topics
Learn and discover new things about the Inland Northwest’s great outdoors, from hiking and biking trails and local wildlife to geology of local recreation areas, live animals, wildcrafting and survival, e-bikes, regional wildlands, and more!
