Outdoorsy Fun for Families & Kids of All Ages

Kids and families have plenty to keep active and entertained at the 2025 Spokane Great Outdoors Expo Saturday and Sunday Feb. 22-23 at the Spokane Convention Center. From indoor bike riding and marshmallow roasting to arts and crafts, live animal presentations both days (insects, reptiles, and raptors), games, extreme skateboarding demonstrations, and our Kids Adventure Passport activity, families with kids of all ages will a blast. Kids 12 and under are free with a parent too!

Extreme Skateboarding Demonstrations!

Come watch talented skateboarders performing extreme skate tricks on a mobile indoor halfpipe courtesy of Yousta and Hopper Skateboards! Kids of all ages and adults will be inspired by the skill and style demonstrated by these young riders. Rumor has it that some Spokane BMX riders might do tricks too! Come cheer on the riders both days at 11 AM and 2 PM! Skate demonstrations are sponsored by Layne Stoops – State Farm Insurance.

See Live Reptiles, Insects, and Raptors

See tarantulas, amphibians, tortoises, lizards, and snakes up close and personal with Spokane’s Bugs N Snakes and live reptiles, owls, and hawks with West Valley Outdoor Learning Center! Presentations both Sat & Sun will introduce a variety of live critters and give audience members a chance to ask questions, as well as touch and/or hold some of the animals. Indoor Bike Riding

Kids of all ages can ride Strider balance bikes and BMX bikes on an indoor course. Spokane BMX will be on hand to talk about local BMX riding and racing!

Learn about Fossils

See real fossils at the Stonerose Interpretive Center and Eocene Fossil Site booth. Stonerose is a family-friendly center located in Republic, WA.

Kids Adventure Passport Activity

Explore the great outdoors with your kids by completing activities around the Expo and collecting stamps on their passports. Bags with prizes for both kids and moms and dads while they last for completed passports! Get started at the Out There Outdoors booth at the show entrance.

Nature Arts, Crafts, & Creative Building

Stop by the Greenplay Northwest booth where kids and parents can participate in a nature art project all weekend long. Kids get to make a nature wand out of sticks and other materials to take home!

 

Try Cutting a Log the Old Fashioned Way!

Stop by the Idaho Trails Association booth where kids and parents can experience what it’s like to clear wilderness trails with a real cross-cut saw!

 

Magic Shows for Kids & Adults

Kids and adults will love these shows by local magician Matthew Van Zee (one magic show each day from 12:10-12:40 PM in the presentation area. Find all of the details and presentation schedule here.

Marshmallow Roasting

Roast marshmallows (FREE) and hang out around the faux campfire at the R’nR RV Center Campground. Kick back in a camp chair and listen to live music.  Parents can purchase a beverage from the bar to enjoy in the campground.

Play Games

Kids and parents can practice disc golf skills, play cornhole and other games in the Expo Campground area by R’nR RV.

Live String Instrument Music

Introduce your kids to traditional American bluegrass and acoustic music by the Homebrew Stringband in the Expo Campground 1-3 on Sat and 12-2 on Sun. Kick back in a camp chair with a beverage and marshmallows and enjoy the tunes!
